Pakistani hitter Kamran Akmal and Pacer Wahab Riaz criticized the authorities for dissolving the departments of the current domestic structure.
The departments are financial support for us. Through it, we manage our homes, so the finished departments mean disturbing thousands of people, “Kamran Akmal” said while speaking with the media in Lahore.
Kamran believes that ending departmental cricket will affect the quality of cricket in the country. “The departments polish the skills of the players and help them demonstrate their true strength,” he said.
The 37-year-old cricketer said it is impossible to successfully manage a domestic structure based on six regions in a country with a population of 22 million. “Players will not have many opportunities in a domestic structure of six regions,” he said.
On the other hand, Wahab emphasized the need not to dissolve departmental cricket. The level of competition is strong in departmental cricket that helps players grow as a strong unit,” he said.
The pacemaker on the left arm said the board should promote departmental cricket and take regions to frame a solid domestic structure. “In my opinion, departments and regions should be on a single page to improve cricket in Pakistan,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that the former captain and prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, asked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to build a domestic structure based on just regions.
This decision created a disturbance between the departments and two renowned departments, UBL and HBL, dissolved their cricket teams.
